In 2020, driven by strong growth in the UK, HCFX opened a new office in Milan, becoming the first licensed SIM to offer FX investment services in Italy. The Milan office includes two regulated entities: a “Società d’Intermediazione Mobiliare” (SIM) and an “Istituto di Pagamento” (IdP). HCFX Italy helps companies and financial institutions manage their FX exposure, enabling SMEs to trade globally by simplifying traditional procedures.

Key responsibilities

As an Independent Board Member, you will be

• Participating in board meetings and actively contributing to strategic decisions, particularly in the areas of risk management, compliance, and corporate governance.
• Providing independent judgment and oversight on the firm’s FX-related operations and broader investment services.
• Monitoring the effectiveness of internal controls and risk frameworks, especially in relation to FX trading and market conduct.
• Supporting the development of a sound governance culture in line with MiFID II and applicable Italian regulatory requirements (CONSOB and Bank of Italy).
• Collaborating with internal control functions (compliance, internal audit, risk management) and oversee remediation plans where necessary.

 

Essential experience & skills

We want to set you up for success and we believe these experiences and skills will help you thrive in this role:

• Proven experience as a board member or senior executive in regulated financial institutions, preferably with knowledge of SIMs or MiFID-regulated firms
• Strong understanding of FX markets, trading practices, and the associated regulatory and operational risks
• Familiarity with Italian and European regulatory frameworks (MiFID II, EMIR, etc)
• Demonstrated independence of judgment, integrity, and professional reputation
• Ideally holding a university degree in law, finance, economics, or a related discipline
• Fluency in Italian is preferred; professional proficiency in English is essential.
